5 Things To Help You Create Mental Wellness

Consistent happiness. Is this THE single ingredient for mental wellness?  No, it isn’t.

Our brain, our body and our lifestyle balance on the proverbial tightrope while passing through the complexities of life while trying to maintain equilibrium, which is a state of mental calm, or a state of physical balance.

The World Health Organization provides a mental wellness definition: “A state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community.” It mentions nothing about happiness or the absence of challenges with mental illness. Mental wellness means you are able to adequately cope with the challenges life throws at you, whether that be as simple as a work project or as complicated as a breakup.

It’s the balance between your emotional, physical, spiritual, and mental self. Be mindful of early warning signs that may turn into a greater issue.  Some of these may include: a loss of interest in once pleasurable activities, isolating from friends or family, experiencing changes in mood, poor sleep pattern, having little energy, or thoughts of self-harm.

Here are 5 ideas that can boost mental wellness to get you started:
1. Exercise
2. Eat a clean diet
3. Get restful sleep
4. Remain creative
5. Ask for help and support when you feel you need it

No matter what you are going through, you are not alone.
